Golf at Altitude.
Culture at Every Turn.
Salta is the most culturally layered destination in the AGA portfolio. The golf is played at altitude against desert mountain scenery that has no equivalent in Argentina. The culture — colonial architecture, indigenous heritage, Cafayate wine country — fills every hour between rounds.
Championship Golf Above 1,000 Metres
Golf in Salta is played at over 1,000 metres above sea level — where the ball carries further, the air is cleaner, and the Andean desert rises behind every tee. The courses here are private, the conditions are immaculate year-round, and the visual context is unlike anything in lowland Argentine golf.
The Most Culturally Rich Destination in Northwest Argentina
Salta is known as "la Linda" — the beautiful — for a reason. The colonial city centre is the best preserved in Argentina. Three hours south, Cafayate sits at 1,700 metres in the Calchaquí Valley, producing Torrontés and Malbec in one of the world's most dramatic wine landscapes. Both experiences are in the program.
Private Clubs.
Desert Mountain Backdrop.
Golf in Salta is a different physical experience — altitude, desert air, mountain scenery. Courses are private, conditions are exceptional, and access is coordinated by AGA.
Golf in Salta
Salta's private golf clubs sit at over 1,000 metres above sea level in the Valle de Lerma — a wide, fertile valley ringed by desert mountains. The ball flies further at altitude, the air is dry and clear, and the Andean backdrop changes colour through the day from ochre to burnt red. Rounds here are private, transfers are included, and the experience is unlike any other course in the AGA portfolio.
The Culture That Makes
Salta Irreplaceable.
Two experiences that no other destination in the AGA portfolio offers. Both are included in every Salta program.
Colonial Salta — "La Linda"
The best-preserved colonial city centre in Argentina. The Plaza 9 de Julio, the pink cathedral, the Cabildo, the San Francisco convent — architecture that has changed little since the 18th century and that gives Salta a character unlike any other Argentine city. The contrast between the colonial grandeur of the centre and the indigenous culture of the surrounding region is the defining experience of the destination.
Cafayate Wine Country
Three hours south of Salta, at 1,700 metres in the Calchaquí Valley, Cafayate produces Torrontés and Malbec in some of the most dramatic scenery in South American wine. The drive down through the Quebrada de las Conchas — a canyon of red and ochre rock formations — is one of the great road journeys in Argentina. AGA programs include private bodega visits and accommodation at Patios de Cafayate, inside Bodega El Esteco.
Two Properties.
Two Distinct Experiences.
Salta programs include nights in the city and nights in Cafayate — each property chosen to match the destination it anchors.
Sheraton Salta Hotel
Salta's flagship 5-star property, with panoramic views of the Valle de Lerma and the surrounding Andean foothills. Contemporary rooms, full spa, heated pool, and the most complete infrastructure in the city. Located 10 blocks from the colonial centre — close enough to walk, removed enough to feel the scale of the valley. The operational base for golf days and city exploration.
Patios de Cafayate Wine Hotel
A 19th-century colonial mansion set inside the working vineyards of Bodega El Esteco at 1,700 metres in the Calchaquí Valley. 32 rooms and suites with views across the vines and the mountains. The restaurant serves estate wines with recipes passed through generations. The pool sits between courtyards of flowering citrus and carob trees. The most atmospheric hotel in the AGA portfolio — and the reason Cafayate overnight is non-negotiable in a Salta program.

Salta Works Two
Ways.
Salta is a complete standalone program — golf, Cafayate, and colonial culture make for an itinerary that stands entirely on its own. It also works as an extension of the Buenos Aires program for groups seeking the full breadth of Argentine geography and culture.
For groups where not everyone is a committed golfer, Salta resolves the issue completely: the cultural and wine dimensions are strong enough to carry the non-golfer through the entire program without compromise.
Salta Only · 5–7 Nights
Golf in the Valle de Lerma, overnight in Cafayate at Patios de Cafayate, colonial city exploration. The complete Salta experience as a self-contained program.
Buenos Aires + Salta · 12 Nights
Jockey Club and the Buenos Aires private circuit, then Salta for altitude golf, Cafayate, and the colonial north. Two completely different Argentinas in one itinerary.
Buenos Aires + Salta + Mendoza
Three distinct wine and golf regions. Buenos Aires old-money clubs, Salta desert mountain golf, Mendoza Andean vineyards. Built for groups with 14+ days and a serious appetite for Argentina.
"Golf at over a thousand metres. The Andean desert behind the 18th. That evening, dinner in a 19th-century colonial mansion in a vineyard at Cafayate."
No other destination in the AGA portfolio puts this much variety into a single program. The golf is the anchor. The culture and the wine country are what make Salta the trip your group will still be explaining at dinner two years from now.

Choose Salta.
"We'd done Buenos Aires and Patagonia in previous years. Salta was the extension nobody in our group expected — and the one that produced the most stories. The Quebrada drive to Cafayate and the night at Patios de Cafayate alone justified the entire trip."
8-person group · Miami, Florida · Buenos Aires + Salta program · 12 nights
"Golf at altitude with desert mountains behind every tee. Completely unlike anything we've played anywhere in the world. Salta was the surprise of the Argentina trip."
6-person group · Calgary, Canada · Salta standalone · 6 nights
"Our group had three non-golfers. Salta was the only destination where they were as satisfied as the golfers. The colonial city and Cafayate gave them a full program without compromise."
10-person group · London, UK · Full Argentina circuit · 14 nights
The Questions
We Answer Every Week.
Is Salta worth combining with Buenos Aires?
For groups with 10+ days and an interest in more than just golf, yes — without hesitation. Salta adds a dimension that Buenos Aires and Patagonia cannot: desert mountain scenery, indigenous culture, colonial architecture, and Cafayate wine country. Groups who add it consistently describe it as the most unexpected and memorable chapter of the trip.
Is the golf as good as Buenos Aires or Patagonia?
Different, not lesser. The courses in Buenos Aires are about institutional prestige and private access. Patagonia is about visual drama at the foot of the Andes. Salta is about playing golf at altitude in a landscape that looks like no other course in Argentina — desert mountains, red earth, clear air. Each destination delivers a distinct experience that cannot be replicated by the others.
What about non-golfers in the group?
Salta is the strongest non-golfer destination in the AGA portfolio. The colonial city, the Quebrada de las Conchas drive, Cafayate wine country, and the Patios de Cafayate overnight give non-playing members of the group a full and independent itinerary. Nobody waits for the golfers. Both tracks are equally compelling.
